TOM WHALEN is a novelist, short story writer, poet, and critic who has written for Agni, Bookforum, Film Quarterly, The Iowa Review, The Quarterly, the Washington Post and other publications. His recent books include DOLLS (prose poems), THE BIRTH OF DEATH AND OTHER COMEDIES: THE NOVELS OF RUSSELL H. GREENAN (criticism), and THE PRESIDENT IN HER TOWERS (novel). He currently teaches American Studies at Bamberg University and film at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart, Germany. MICHEL (Marie) VARISCO’s photographs, assemblages and site-specific installations explore loss and regeneration. A native of New Orleans, she received her MFA from Tulane University and studied and taught in France (LaCoste School of Art-Cleveland Art Institute) and Italy (U.G.A.) and has been a part-time artist/mentor at NOCCA|Riverfront since 1997. Varisco’s work is exhibited and published internationally and is included in public, private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad.
